Armed robbery suspect arrested

TIFTON — A Tifton man was robbed at gunpoint Friday on Lee Avenue, which led to the arrest of Allen Pierre Golson, 24, of Tifton.

According to an incident report filed at the Tifton Police Department, a 35-year-old man reported Friday afternoon that a black male robbed him at gunpoint in front of a residence located in the 1000 block of Lee Avenue. He said he was standing outside the residence talking to a friend when a silver or gray Nissan Maxima or Altima pulled up with two black males inside.

He said the car turned around and the passenger asked him out the window if he could tell them where Belmont Avenue was. He told the men yes and started to walk toward the vehicle to give them directions. The passenger then got out and met him in the roadway.

The man said as he was giving directions to Belmont Avenue, the subject put a black semi-automatic pistol to his head and reached for his wallet. The subject demanded that he give him his wallet or he would shoot him. As he was taking the wallet, he knocked the victim’s phone to the ground and ran toward the vehicle.

The man said the vehicle sped off and turned right on 12th Street, heading toward Ferry Lake Road. He then called 911. He gave police a description of the passenger. He said his wallet contained his driver’s license, fishing license, Walmart gift card and $225.

The report states that Golson was arrested and charged with armed robbery and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
