Lois Evelyn Moorman Golden

OMEGA — Lois Evelyn Moorman Golden, 89, of Omega died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Ring and the Rev. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Her grandsons will serve as active pallbearers, Kevin Hester, Nathan Hester, Ryan Hester, Justin Golden, Patrick McDaniel, Scott Carlson, Rich Butler, Mark Thompson, Jason Lanter, Peter Hayes and Chad Bridges. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Moorman, Ray Moorman, Duane McCaskill, Robert McCaskill, Mack McCaskill, Richard Golden, Tim Dunn, Robert Dunn, Richard Carter, Steve Webb, Monty Spinks, Daniel Ross, Larry Golden and Jack Marion. The body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs. Golden was born July 19, 1924 in Tift County to the late Lula Ford and Kellis Moorman Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edward Golden, who died July 9, 1982; a son, Dennis Earl Golden, who died July 28, 2008; her sister and brother-in-law, Frankie Mae and Calvin McCaskill; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kellis and Doris Moorman Jr. and G.W. and Veda Moorman.

Mrs. Golden was a homemaker and retiree of J.P. Stevens. As a lifetime member of Salem Baptist Church, Mrs. Golden loved the Lord and her church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, cooking and baking. Her family was the center of her life and she was very happy providing for them.

Mrs. Golden is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jean Golden of Lugoff, S.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Russell Hester of Omega and Jewell and Murray Roberson of Chula; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Golden of Tifton; grandchildren, Jennifer and Rich Butler, Amy Tucker, Angela and Jason Lanter, Shaunna and Peter Hayes, Kevin and Jessica Hester, Nathan Hester, Ryan Hester, Daphne and Mark Thompson, Justin and Beth Golden, Allison and Chad Bridges, Shannon and Patrick McDaniel and Carla and Scott Carlson; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Memorial Gardens Cemetery Fund, c/o Sara Lamb, 15 Ellis Bryan Road, Tifton, GA 31794, or to Southern Care Hospice, 412 First St. S.E., Moultrie, GA 31768.
