Tift wins eight events at quad meet

TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devils finished 3rd in Wednesday's  quad meet held at the high school with several individual top performances. They had first place finishes in eight events.

Lowndes finished 1st in the event and Crisp County was 2nd.

Dalton Ellis was 1st in pole vault with a height of 10'6", Danny Patterson won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.88 seconds and the 110-meter hurdles in 15.55 seconds. Josh Ajero won the 400-meter dash in 51.16 seconds, J.C. Clark won discus, throwing at 123'09" and two relay teams won.

The 4x400 team of Barry Bennett, Ajero, Patterson and Isiah Fullmore won in 3:33 and the 4x100 "A" squad, consisting of Gary Stevenson, Butler, Jamarion Billington and Patterson, took the victory in 42.73 seconds.

Another win came in the 100-meter dash, won by Billington, who was just a tenth of a second faster than teammate Devarious Butler, who finished third. Billington's time was 11.12. Billington also won the 200-meter dash in 22.72.

In the high jump, R.J. Merriweather was 2nd and Quay Duggins finished 5th. Long jump saw Dravis Sears come in 2nd and Stevenson was 3rd. Donovan Smith finished 3rd in pole vault and Butler and Duggins were 3rd and 7th, respectively, in the 100 meters.

Ryan Wedgeworth was 3rd in shot put, just ahead of Austin Manglesdorf, who was 4th. In the 300-meter hurdles Josh Patrick was 7th. Austin Bennett was 4th in the 3200-meter and Matt Kelly was 7th. Bennett came in 7th in the mile, Sears was 5th in the 400 meters, Butler was 3rd in the 200 meters and Caleb Graham was 3rd in discus.

Triple jump saw Wendall White come in 3rd and Merriweather 4th and in the 800-meter run, Fullmore was 2nd and Daniel Nixon was 3rd.
