Death Notices for January 14

Danny Hill Jr., 23, of Moultrie died in Moultrie. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Southview Mortuary Inc. Professional care and services are entrusted to Southview Mortuary Inc.

John William Buchan Sr., 69, of Ambrose died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Community Center in Ambrose. Among his survivors are one son, John William Buchan Jr. of Ambrose; one daughter, Rhonda DeAnn Bishop of Canton; one brother, Tim Allen Buchan of Ambrose; and three sisters, Jennie Leggett of Sylvester, Josie Moses of Rochelle and Rosa Lee Miller of Douglas. Condolences may be sent to the family at the online guest registry at www.bowen-donaldson.com. Services for the Buchan family are under the care and direction of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ruth Woodall Branch died peacefully at home in Chula Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Chula Baptist Church with burial to follow at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Branch will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Complete obituary information will be provided later. Johnnie Green, 86, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Burgess Funeral Home in Ashburn.

Elijah Jennings, 71, of Tifton died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Community Mortuary, LLC of Tifton.

    LEOs and first responders honored at banquet

    A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.
    Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
