Rants & Raves - January 7

Ahh, Thomas Sowell.....a voice of reason in a den of confusion. Thomas Sowell and Ben Carson are two intelligent gentleman who will tell it like it is. What they say and think represents the thoughts of so many down to earth ordinary citizens in the U.S.
I called city hall today for some questions about my bill. I tried to be as courteous as possible. The lady I spoke to acted like she could not get me off the phone quick enough and acted irritated when I asked her the same question a second time. You can tell when a phone is hung up propertly. When I finished I said, “Thank you"....no reply and the received was slammed down.
May I remind you, as a resident and taxpayer of this city, along with others, we are your boss. The next time this happens, I will make a trip down and speak to your supervisor and find out what is the problem. Courtesy and respect for your customer is always rule No. 1.
I tried to make a bet with a friend of mine. I say we'll see just as many three to two votes as we saw last year at our council meetings. He wouldn't bet. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I sure could have used the money though.
To the heartless driver who was speeding down the 2200 block of North Park Avenue the late afternoon of Dec. 22, disobeyed an all-way stop condition, struck, and ended our beloved six-month-old Boykin Spaniel puppy's life, why don't you please come forward and admit your guilt? Our family needs closure. You could have easily run over a child. All we ask is that you would have a heart and be courteous. There's been way too much speeding along this section of North Park Avenue lately.
