Former USA national player at Diamond Exposure Saturday

TIFTON — Diamond Exposure Academy will be hosting a softball camp Saturday featuring Chenita Rogers-Edwards. There will be two sessions for attendees, "Slap Hitting and Bunting for Base Hits" which takes places from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and "All You Need to Know About Playing College Softball," from 1:30-4 p.m.

Rogers-Edwards is a former USA national team standout and competed in New Zealand and China. She was named a member of the NCAA all-decade team for the 1980s and was voted one of the top 35 NCAA players of all-time. She competed collegiately for Cal State-Fullerton and was a two-time All-American and member of the NCAA national championship squad. She is an experienced instructor, having worked with Higher Ground's elite events and provided instruction for top high school and college players.

The morning session will cover the basics of slap hitting and advanced mechanics and drills. Rogers-Edwards will also teach base hit bunting from the left side. Players must be at least 10 years old to participate.

The afternoon session is for players 7th grade and higher and will show athletes how to prepare for college softball. Rogers-Edwards will also answer questions from players and parents.

Registration for one session costs $25 for Diamond Exposure members and $35 for non-members. For both sessions, the costs are $50 and $60. Registration the day of the event will have an additional $10 fee. The fee for the afternoon session allows one or both parents to attend, along with the player. Advance registration is encouraged. Checks can be made payable to Diamond Exposure, LLC.
