Rants & Raves _ December 15

Amen to the fan who said the music is way too loud at the Tift County games. I quit going because I couldn't stand it but want to go back if they ever change their music.
Our government at one time ruled monopolies were illegal. However, in the prison system, the government has a monopoly over the phone system. Did you know it costs a prisoner $3.50 per minute to make a local phone call?
I agree with the person who wrote pretrial intervention is a joke in Tifton. Not only are they walking the streets still, they are driving with no insurance, begging from house to house for gas, food and money, as well as stealing to support their drug habits. Something needs to be done to get these people off the streets. We are tired of seeing them drive through our neighborhoods scoping out our houses then scaring our children when they walk up in our yards begging.
This Historic District thing has outlived its usefulness if it ever had any. Now a bank can't even tear down a decrepit old ice house to put up a modern building. Anybody trying to improve the area has to satisfy state bureaucrats as well as the locals. The whole thing is a drag on progress and there is nothing historic about the area to start with. People would be far more likely to improve the area if they weren't told where to drive every nail.
I am so tired of "cotton on the road side, cotton in the ditch." Cotton is no more litter than leaves on a tree. Both are nature made; biodegradable. If you want to fight litter pick up a burger wrapper. Get some common sense and get a life. Leave the farmers alone. Cotton built the south.
