Rogers, Sumner

TIFTON — Jayanne Marie Rogers and Mike Anthony Sumner Jr. of Nashville were united in marriage during a 3 p.m. ceremony Aug. 15, 2009 at Dr. Scott’s Barn in Tifton.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Jeannie Foe of Tifton. Her grandparents are Florence and Herbert McCreary. The groom is the son of Billy and Lisa Tatum of Nashville and Mike and Rhonda Sumner of Tifton. His grandparents are the Rev. Billy and Jean Sumner and Mary Burr.

Due to rain, the double-ring ceremony was moved from it’s dock setting to the barn stables where family and friends lined the walls to watch the couple exchange vows.

The wedding march was provided by River of Life Church in Tifton. Linda Hurdle sang “Keeper of the Stars.”

Marshall Tatum of Tifton served as best man with Billy Tatum of Nashville, Mike Sumner Sr. of Tifton and Derrick Williams of Tifton, brother of the bride, serving as groomsmen.

Anna Thompson of Tifton served as maid of honor with Cailtlin Williams of Tifton and Jennifer Javenes of Hahira, both sisters of the bride, and Hannah Tatum of Nashville, sister of the groom, served as bridesmaids.

Jayna Hurdle, daughter of Rachael Hurdle, and bride’s niece, Emily Javenes, daughter of Jennifer Javenes, served as flowers girls. Ringbearer was the bride and groom’s son, Gage Sumner, of Nashville.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Lee Rogers of Lake Mary, Fla., who walked her halfway down the aisle, and her father, Bill Foe of Tifton, who brought her to the groom.

She wore a gown from the David’s Bridal collection which had white, halter-style straps embossed with sequins and pearls and a three and a half foot train trimmed in lace and pearls. She wore a silver and rhinestone tiara with a waist-length veil borrowed from her sister. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of cala lilies, orchids and greenery made by Our Flower and Gift Gallery.

Her “something old,” was an antique bracelet, her “something borrowed” was the veil from her sister and a pair of earrings loaned by Doris Adams. She wore a blue garter for her “something blue” and her dress and tiara were her “something new.”

RECEPTION

A reception was given by the bride’s parents in honor of the couple upstairs in the barn. The event was catered by Bubba’s Ribs & Q.

The bride’s cake was a three-tier square chocolate and vanilla cake with buttercream icing. The cake was decorated with beads and peridot ribbon and created by Cakes Couture in Valdosta.

Bridesmaids and the maid of honor assisted in the reception and South Train Band provided the entertainment.

The couple honeymooned at New Symrna Beach, Fla. The couple will reside in Nashville where the groom is co-owner of Sumner and Son Home Renovations and the bride is employed with Bubba’s Ribs & Q.
