TIFTON — Irwin County wrestler Sam Tucker recently broke the school record for most individual wins in a career. After the record-breaking win at the recent Blue Devil Invitational, Tucker has a 40-3 mark this season, and 152 in his career.

Blue Devils beat Wolves in OT
The Tift County Blue Devils needed overtime to do it, but stayed undefeated within the state with a 65-56 victory over the Buford Wolves Saturday to move their record to 5-1. The Lady Devils (2-3) had a tough time with their opponent, falling 71-41 to Buford’s girls.

Double sweep starts off season for Rebels
The Turner County Rebels and Lady Rebels opened the 2013-14 season with two big region wins over the weekend at Echols County and Wilcox County.
Torre, La Russa, Cox elected to baseball Hall
Joe Torre, Tony La Russa and Bobby Cox, baseball's winningest managers over the past four decades, were unanimously elected to the Hall of Fame on Monday by the expansion era committee.
All three won more than 2,000 games and were selected on all 16 ballots when the committee met Sunday ahead of baseball's winter meetings.
