TIFTON — Berrien High Rebel Devonte Bass gets loose for a 65-yard gain Friday night against Brooks. Bass ended up scoring on the drive, but it was not enough as the Rebels were defeated, 43-14, by Brooks.

Cook Hornets hoops squads off to fast start
The Cook Hornets and Lady Hornets are a few games into their 2013-14 seasons and both coaches are thrilled about what they have seen so far.
The girls, coached by Clemmie Foster and who were 5-1 after Friday night's game, have made the state tournament past two years and look primed to top last season's 12-17 mark.
Shivers elected to Shorter Hall of Fame
Patsy Boynton Shivers, assistant principal at Len Lastinger Primary School, was recently inducted into the Shorter University Athletic Hall of Fame. She played basketball and ran cross country from 1997-2001.
Devils, Westover split Friday games
There is rarely an occasion that a meeting between the Tift County Blue Devils and Westover Patriots does not turn into a barnburner and Friday night's games were no exception. The Lady Patriots won in double overtime, 51-44, but the Devil took the boys contest, 65-61, in a game that seemed even closer than that.
Charlton slips by Irwin in semis, 34-33
After defeating the Charlton County Indians, 29-26, on a last second field goal on Nov. 6, the Irwin County Indians saw a kick again decide their fate against Charlton.
Tough, busy weekend for Tift basketball
The Tift County Blue Devils and Lady Devils will be home again tonight when they take on the Westover Patriots at 7 p.m. Saturday finds them at Buford for a 3 p.m. game against the Wolves.
Westover sure to be a tough test for both squads. The Tift boys, 3-1 this season, swept the series last year while the girls had a big comeback to win in Albany after losing the earlier game in Tifton.
