Johns finishes junior golf tourney
TIFTON — Ocilla’s Matt Johns carded a final round 76 to finish in a tie for 34th on Wednesday at the 44th annual Georgia Junior Championship, which was held at Sea Island Golf Club’s Retreat Course in St. Simons Island.
Johns finished with a three-day total of 224 at the Georgia State Golf Association tournament.
St. Simons Island native Scott Wolfes, a rising junior at Glynn Academy, set a new 54-hole scoring record with a 15-under 201. Ollie Schniederjans of Powder Springs was second, four shots off the pace.
Hahira’s Ty Howze finished tied for ninth after a 76 in the final round.
TCTC looking for members
TIFTON — The Tift County Touchdown Club has kicked off its membership drive for the upcoming season. Four levels of membership are available.
T-Devil ($100) levil includes a Tift car decal, and reserved Silver parking.
Blue Devil ($250) level will include the decal, parking and one Blue Devil polo shirt.
Silver Devil ($500) level entitles a member to the car decal, parking, two shirts and two reserved seats for the season.
The Super Devil ($1,000) package includes a car decal, four polo shirts, four reserved seats and reserved Super Devil parking.
