TIFTON — Fitzgerald native Tucker Pruitt was named to Chris Hatcher’s staff at Georgia Southern University on Thursday.
The Valdosta State alumnus will work with the team as an offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach, and will begin his duties on July 1.
Pruitt played in 30 games for the Blazers at quarterback and was recruited by Hatcher at Valdosta State.
Pruitt was a member of the 2007 National Championship team and was a redshirt on the 2004 championship team at Valdosta State.
Pruitt also was a standout in the classroom.
He earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll four years straight at Valdosta State, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health/Physical Education in the spring of 2008.
Pruitt played at quarterback at Fitzgerald High under his father, and Florida Hall of Famer, Robby Pruitt from 2000-02, and at Warner Robins High in 2003.
Pruitt threw for 1,171 yards and eight TD’s in 2003.
