TIFTON — Tift County’s 11-12 year old All-star team overcame an eight-run deficit to defeat Moultrie by a 16-15 score in Moultrie on Wednesday.

The Red Bracket championship game against Crisp County was not completed at presstime.

Moultrie’s Will Roberts delivered two grand slams off Tift pitching in the first two innings to give the Razorbacks an 8-0 lead.

Tift chipped away in the bottom of the second off Roberts, who was also Moultrie’s starting pitcher.

With one out, Aiden Vickers and Korey Greer drew back-to-back walks and Tyler Goforth doubled to score Vickers for Tift’s first run of the ball game.

After a wild pitched brought in another run, Jacori McCoy delivered an RBI single to score Goforth. McCoy advanced to third on an error on the throw in to the infield, and scored on a solid single by Jordan Walker to trim the Moultrie lead to 8-4.

Jacob Pritchett then walked, and two batters later Cole Glisson delivered a double in the gap to score two more for Tift, making it an 8-6 lead. Glisson then scored on a wild pitch, and after two innings, Tift trailed by an 8-7 score.

After the Razorbacks extended their lead to 10-7 in the top of the third, Tift came back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs.

Vickers singled for the second time and Bo Hicks was hit in the head by a pitch and advanced to second and third base on a passed ball. Two batters later, McCoy had an RBI groundout to score Vickers and Walker followed with a single, scoring Hicks from third base.

Tift took the lead in the fourth inning, sending nine batters to the plate and taking advantage of four hits and two walks in the inning.

Josh Jordan, Vickers, McCoy and Walker had the hits, and Ross Sutton and Goforth walked to set up the four-run inning.

Glisson added an RBI ground out for Tift in the fourth inning as well.

Moultrie stormed back with four runs with two outs to tie the game in the top of the fifth, and went ahead 15-14 on the first pitch of the sixth inning, as Kodi Bishop homered over the center field fence of Goforth.

Tift quickly came back in their last at bat, as McCoy found himself on second base with a single and error in the field. Walker followed with a single, and two wild pitches later, McCoy scored from third to tie the ball game at 15.
