Hornets beat 1-AAAAA Coffee High Trojans, 6-5

TIFTON — The Cook High Hornets baseball team went to 6-3 on the year Wednesday night with a 6-5 win over 1-AAAAA Coffee High.
Josh Barks picked up the pitching win as he struck out four and gave up two hits in six innings of work. Kaleb Cowart struck out the side in the seventh to pick up the save.
Wes Warren was 2-for-4 and had the game’s big blow, a three-run homer. Adding two hits apiece were Trevor Hand and Parker Nix. Hand also had two RBIs.
Austin Pafford was also 1-for-2 with one RBI for Cook in the win.
On Tuesday, the Hornets went to 3-0 in the Region 1-AA standings with a 11-5 win over archrival Berrien High.
Cowart picked up the win as he went the final five innings, and allowed two hits. He also struck out nine batters.
Besides his pitching against Berrien, Cowart was also 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs.
Justin Sadler was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and E.J. Johnson was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Nix also had two hits and one RBI in the contest.
The Cook High Hornets will host host Thomasville Friday in another 1-AA contest.
