JV soccer defeats Valdosta
TIFTON — Tift County’s JV soccer team ran its region record to 8-1, as the Blue Devils defeated the Valdosta Wildcats 3-1 on Thursday.
Irvin Alvarez and Orasio Torres added a goal and assist for the Devils and Wilson Acamo added the other goal for Tift.
With the win, Tift improves to 10-2 overall, and the Blue Devils will travel to Coffee on Thursday for a matchup with the Trojans.

Eighth Street golf still unbeaten
TIFTON — Eighth Street’s golf team won the Packer Invitational Tournament at Sunset Country Club in Moultrie on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils and Colquitt finished regulation with identical scores of 324 in the eight-team, 18-hole tournament.
Jake Flynt, Beau Hightower, Robert Doolan and Mitch Willis led the Blue Devils to a sudden death win over the Packers by two strokes.
Flynt shot a 74, Hightower shot 81, while Doolan recorded an 84 and Willis carded an 85 for Eighth Street.
Other Blue Devil participants were Joesph Spinks and Mitchel Rogers.
Eighth Street will return to action on Monday, at the 18-hole Blue Devil Classic at Spring Hill Country Club.
Teams participating in the event along with Eighth Street are Colquitt, Coffee, Valdosta, Hahira, Lowndes and Thomasville.
Tee time is slated for 12:45 p.m.
