Your Opinion:Thanks from Jog for Jake organizers

On Oct. 6, the fifth annual Jog for Jake (JFJ) road race was held at Tift County High School. Our prayer has always been that our heavenly Father would provide what He needs for His children and this year was no exception. To date, over $90,000 has been raised to purchase toys for children in need in our community for Christmas in conjunction with Toys for Tots. As a committee, we know that our efforts would not have been successful without the many volunteers and supporters of JFJ. To those who donated time or talent or money and toys, we want you to know that you are appreciated! The hard work of all culminated with the race and a fun family night filled with wholesome activities and a time that we could honor our precious Jake’s memory in a meaningful and worthwhile way. Nahum 1:7 states, ‘The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble, He cares for those who trust in Him.’ As a committee, we evidenced this promise in the way that God blessed JFJ and in turn provided a way to help those in need. We can only imagine the joy on the children’s faces this Christmas when they receive the gifts that our amazing community has helped to provide! During these tough economic times it is a blessing to see people reaching out to God’s little ones to give unselfishly!

To quote Acts 20:35, “ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

In Christ,
