Rants and Raves for October 29

Special event

“This is to the people who hosted the Breast Cancer Awareness seminar at the Ocilla hospital on Tuesday. It was very informative. Loved the guest speaker! Thanks to all of the hospital staff for the delicious desserts provided for us.”

Winning smile

“This is a rave for the young man that works at Krystal’s. I went there last week and was having a bad day, but when I got to the window his smile had changed my whole day. We need more people in restaurants like him. Krystal’s is truly blessed to have him as one of their workers. May God bless him.”

Please fix it

“CAUTION !!!!! The short piece of Tifton-Eldorado Road (near I-75) could get someone injured or killed. It is distorted to the point where it will throw your vehicle sideways when you pass over it. Looks like they would repair this before it causes an accident.”

Priorities

“As a Georgia fan I could not agree more with Mr. Gilleland’s recent letter, ‘Time for a change.’ Winning coaches surround themselves with winning assistants. Willie Martinez, defensive coordinator, should have been fired two years ago. Mr. Richt, you need to stop spending your time selling trucks and start coaching football.”

Just vote

“One of the real problems with the Senate, aside from being unrepresentative, is the self-imposed filibuster rule that requires a 60 percent vote to even bring up a bill for a majority vote. This rule just gives the senators a convenient means of ducking hard issues and improving their chances for re-election. It's not about the people, it's about staying in office ad nauseam. Vote it up. Vote it down. Just vote.”
