Rant and Raves for October 12

No candidates

“I would like to say thank you to all the participants in the homecoming parade held on Thursday evening. It was a good way to get the community motivated and bring back memories for the alumni. However, to include the political candidates was, I think in poor taste. This was for the school. No campaigning. Get your own parade and drive around in your fancy cars if you want but no school function!”

Long gone

“Right now is when all those jobs that went overseas, we could use them now more than ever, because this economy is based on the ability of the consumer to spend about 70 percent. If we still had an industrial base like we used to, I can promise you we’d be a lot better off, but we don’t because we have too many people that don’t produce anything any more that the world’s buying.”

Keep on

“Thank you, Tifton Gazette, for printing Thomas Sowell’s column, and thank you, Thomas Sowell, for exposing the real Obama. Keep on, keep on, keep on.”

...Or not

“Thomas Sowell falsely claimed in his column on Thursday that Obama supported sex education for kindergarten students. Obama supported a program that would teach kindergarten students how to respond to inappropriate touching. This program would allow parents to opt out and the content would be controlled by local school boards. In every article written by Mr. Sowell I find inaccuracies, half-truths, and outright fabrications.”

Poor choice

“Tift County department stores, please be careful who you choose to work in customer service. I was treated very rudely by a customer service clerk at a major department store in Tift County.”
