Wonderful job
“Congratulations to the two Tift County 4-H teams that won first and second place at the State Poultry Judging Contest in Athens on Tuesday. These young people worked hard and did a wonderful job! They will now move on to represent not only Tifton but the entire state of Georgia in the National competition in Kentucky!”
Let change come
“I realize there are a lot of people in Tifton who do not want change or to be a progressive city. However, if Tifton doesn't start changing it will dry up and blow away!! Look at all of the plants closing, houses for sale and rent and empty store fronts.”
Reminders
“In reply to ‘Marshall Cares’: Just a couple of reminders to note. If you live in Tift County, Sanford Bishop probably did not respond because you are not in his district; therefore, you are not his constituent. Secondly, you should remember that Saxby Chambliss represents all of Georgia, and Marshall only represents 1/13 of Georgia (approximately 650,000 constituents).”
New name?
“It has finally happened; the Democrats have turned us into an ‘Obama-Nation.’”
Good concert
“I have a Rave. The Concert in the Garden Friday the 2nd with Dustin Holder and Ben Hobbs was fantastic. What a singer! Please have them back.”
Out of the loop
“I have an answer to the question of why we still have monkeys. Maybe they didn’t get the memo.”
Still looking
“Lost: $1.2 million. Last seen on a balance sheet shortly before Christmas. Could be anywhere. Perhaps in small bills. Answers to the name ‘Retirement Dreams.’ If found, please notify the City of Tifton or a responsible adult.”
A bright spot
“I just got finished reading the article by Jana Cone on Page 4A. I’m like everybody else, the day the main story was in I didn’t read it. But I want you to know that I think she did a brilliant job on this little thing in today’s paper. ...And I went above it and read the piece by Dwain Walden. Sounds like he and I had the same kind of childhood. Nothing was complicated back then, but it sure has gotten complicated. And thank you for the Rant and Rave. That is one of the best things I have ever seen in any newspaper in the world. It gives people a chance to gripe and complain and carry on over nothing or something. Thanks for being there for us.”
Thanks for help
“I would like to express my appreciation to the Tift County EMTs and to all those wonderful, compassionate people who happened to be on Third Street last Tuesday noon and came to my rescue when I fell. Thank you one and all for your kindness and concern.”
