Local deaths for July 28, 2007

Smith R. Griffin, 92, of Dallas, Texas, died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas. Graveside services were held Friday at Bethel Cemetery in Turner County. Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn and Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, were in charge of arrangements.

Willa Ree Morehead Tucker, 88, of the Lands Crossing community in Irwin County, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at Dorminy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery. Mrs. Tucker is survived by her sons, G. M. Tucker and Fred Tucker, both of Lands Crossing, and a sister, Gladys Dunn of Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.

Brianna Daisy Williams, 13, of Tifton, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at Medical College in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Miss Williams is survived by her parents, Ronnie and Valyncia Daniels of Tifton; brothers, Cornelius Jackson, Brussell Horton, Isaiah Daniels and Marquise Daniels, all of Tifton, and her sisters, Kenya Williams, Samona Morrow, Tiffany Cushion, Alexis Billington, all of Tifton, and Zykeria Jordan of Atlanta. Southview Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Alton Lamb, 61, of Rebecca, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Burial will be at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville. Mr. Lamb is survived by his mother, Louise Smith Thompson; a sister, Stella Louise Phelps, both of Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Daniel Lamb of Abbeville and Raymond Lamb of Sydney, Fla. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services for Lawrence Shelton Sr., of Fitzgerald, will be held at 1 p.m. today in the sanctuary of New Life Community Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen City Cemetery. Hall’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
