Elmer Mason Price, 88, of Tifton died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe officiated and burial followed at Oakridge Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Forum Sunday school class at Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Mr. Price was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Quitman and was the son of Julian Mason Price and Ruth Wilson Price, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Roberts Price, who died in 2008; a son, Robert Wilson Price, who died in 2011; a daughter, Lillian Alison Price; and a brother, Julian Edwin Price. He owned and operated Colony Cleaners in Tifton for 58 years. He graduated from the University of Georgia in June of 1949 with a BBA in finance.
While at the University of Georgia, Mr. Price was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Kappa. He enjoyed golfing and yard work and was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was in the pilot training program. He was also a member of the Exchange Club of Tifton.
Mr. Price is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Mason and Mary Frances Price of Tifton and Perry Alan Price of Tifton; a sister, Julia Gray of Tifton; and three grandchildren, Terry Daniel Price and his wife, Kat Amano, Brian Joseph Price and Perrin Elizabeth Price.
