Albert Scarborough Sr.

TIFTON — Albert Allen Scarborough Sr., 60, of Tifton, died Monday, December 12, 2011, at his residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Robert Highsmith officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

 Tracey Murphy, Rick Stallings, Roy Watson, Joey Hancock, Billy Trevena, Al Scarborough, Jr., Rodney Parker, Lamar Conley, and Jackson Drawdy will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Scarborough was born June 19, 1951, in Tift County to the late Albert Jackson Scarborough and Lillian Harris Scarborough, who survives and resides in Columbus.  

Mr. Scarborough retired from the City of Tifton as Superintendent of the Parks and Cemetery Department where he had worked for 12 years.  He enjoyed drag racing, dirt bike racing, and motorcycles and hot rods in general.  He loved to laugh and he loved his dogs.

 In addition to his mother, Mr. Scarborough is survived by his wife, Linda Jo Bishop Scarborough of Tifton, to whom he had been married for 26 years; one son and one daughter-in-law, Albert Scarborough,Jr., and Mary Scarborough of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Snow and her fiance’, Rick Stallings of Omega and Melissa and Roy Watson of Tifton; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ann and Bob Wescott of Atlanta and Virginia and Bill Arey of Columbus; and eight grandchildren, Jenna Scarborough, David Scarborough, Adam Scarborough, Eden Scarborough, Elisa Sanchez, Kasie Hutto, Preston Snow and Brent Snow.
