Hazel Gentry Ellington

TIFTON — Hazel Justine Gentry Ellington, 93, of Tifton, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Golden Living Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Wiley and the Rev. Steve Tucker officiating.  Burial will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

 Shane Stone, Randall Goforth, Travis Ellington, Brian Brazzell, John McCranie, Glen Hudson, Grant Hudson, Sam Hudson, Steven Connell, Tyler Goforth, Jacob Stone, Nathan Stone, Sam Ellington, Larry Register, Levi Ellington and Whitt Ellington will serve as pallbearers.

Born Jan. 23, 1919, in Cleburne County, Ala., to the late Thomas Lee Gentry and Carrie Effie Layton Gentry, Mrs. Ellington was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Hugh Ellington, and four brothers, Tristam Gentry, Ronald Gentry, Rudene Gentry and Ted Gentry.

 Formerly of Lake Park, Mrs. Ellington had lived in Tifton 30 years.  She was a homemaker and played and taught piano.  She also taught Sunday school for many years.  She loved reading, cooking and flower gardening.  Mrs. Ellington was a faithful minister’s wife and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

 Mrs. Ellington is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Murray and Jennifer Ellington of McRae and H.E. “Duke” and Dorothy “Dot” Ellington of Tifton; one sister, Nellie Register of Tifton; her grandchildren, Justine Stone, Stacie McCranie, Travis Ellington, Anna Goforth, Kam Brazzell, Shae Ellington, and Sam Ellington; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
