Mae B. Tawzer
TIFTON — Mae Evelyn Braswell Tawzer, 77, of Tifton died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Wayside Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Hunter and Elder Smith Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Tawzer was born March 26, 1932 in Dodge County and was the daughter of Alfred Patterson “A.P.” Braswell and Lillie Mae Upshaw Braswell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Braswell; and two sisters, Minnie Lou Tindall and Velma Hale. She and her husband owned and operated T&S Electric Company and then Southside Superette, as well as working on the family farm. For the past 14 years, she had worked at the Georgia Agrirama as an interpreter, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tawzer is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard Tawzer Jr. of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, June and Tim Johnson of Tifton and Janet and Dennis Vickers of Hahira; two brothers, L.A. Braswell of Tifton and Bobby Braswell of Dothan, Ala.; seven sisters, Sally Storey of Blakely, Colleen Hayman of Tifton, Jean Lloyd of Sycamore, Geraldine Ferrell of Tifton, Wanda Harris of Tifton, Sandra Sumner of Lenox and Lily Bryant of Sumner; three grandchildren, Wendy Failor, Tisha Whiddon and Tate Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Ben Failor and Katie Failor.
