Mittie Ree Richardson



AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Mittie Ree Twilley Richardson, 82, of Amelia Island, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakridge Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

James Aultman, Jason Barksdale, John William Mooney, Austin Beacham, Ansel Beacham and Dustin Peek will serve as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Clay County, Ala., to the late Evans Loren Twilley and Estelle Lovell Green Twilley, Mrs. Richardson was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Twilley and Rayford Twilley.

Mrs. Richardson was reared in Tift County where she graduated from Tifton High School. She worked for many years as secretary for the Reinhardt Law Firm, Tifton, before joining the Coastal Area Planning and Development Commission in Valdosta as executive secretary. Mrs. Richardson was past president of the Tifton Jaycettes. She retired in 1984; and in 1991, at the time of her husband’s retirement, they built a home on Lake Sinclair where they lived until moving to Amelia Island in 1998. Mrs. Richardson was a former member of the First Baptist Churches in Tifton and Valdosta. She loved quilting and needlepoint, and she enjoyed house plants, decorating for the holidays, cooking and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband of 36 years, Albert William “Bill” Richardson of Amelia Island, Fla.; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Tony and Denise Mooney of Fitzgerald, Buck and Kathy Aultman of Tifton, and Robert and Roxanne Aultman of Lake Sinclair; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Katherine Aultman and Max Fundom of Lake Sinclair, Margaret and Frank Beacham of Rome, and Peggy Peek of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Elizabeth McCleod Ryals of Albany; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
