James V. ‘Pete’ Godwin



ENIGMA— James V. “Pete” Godwin, 65, of Enigma died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 in Tifton. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Enigma Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Bennett officiating.

Eddie Gibbs, Robert Spivey, Donald Harris, Joey Hall, Cecil Giddens and Greg Shoupe will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

He was born March 10, 1943 in Hertford, N.C., to Archie M. and Bessie Cartwright Godwin, both deceased. He was retired from Union Camp Corporation and served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army reserve. Mr. Godwin was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife, Kathryn Wynell Wetherington Godwin of Enigma; son, Kevin Godwin of Engima; two daughters and one son-in-law, Melanie and Eddie Gibbs of Enigma and Tammy Spivey of Tifton; sister, Jean Jenkins of North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Madison and Marlie Spivey, both of Tifton.
