Opal Clytee Chambless

TIFTON — Opal Clytee Chambless, 80, of Tifton, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals, with the Rev. Terrell Roberts, the Rev. Bill Barksdale and the Rev. Billy Sumner officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Chase Powell, Waymon Hullett, Johnny Hullett, Larry Crowe, Leonard Chambless and Robert Busbin will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Chambless was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Winfield, Ala., and was the daughter of John Tesney and Vera Howell Tesney, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She resided in Tift County since 1955.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chambless was preceded in death by her husband, R D Chambless, who died in 2002, and two brothers, Pete and Ben Tesney. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Gail Chambless of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ken Watson of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Max and Sara Tesney of Americus; two sisters, Leona Hullett of Sylvester and Inez Crowe of Sumner; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Bill Ryder, LaDon and Kacee Chambless, Allen and Stephanie Peugh, Courtney and Allison Peugh, Tammy and Rolando Licea, Kim Cross and Jessica Watson; 11 great-grandchildren, Chase Powell, Cole Ryder, Cheyenne Ryder, Garrett Chambless, Jeremy Chambless, Bryce Peugh, Logan Peugh, Lelan Peugh, Lane Sumner, Taylor Cross and Rana Cross.
