Hollis W. Fletcher



WEST BERRIEN — Hollis Wade Fletcher, 58, of the West Berrien community, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in the West Berrien Community with the Rev. Garvie Nichols Jr. and the Rev. J. R. Swain Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Jeremey Fletcher, Dave Fletcher, Kenneth Fletcher, Perry Mullis, Mathew Mullis, and Phil Clarke will serve as pallbearers. Ronnie Fletcher, William Fletcher, and Anthony Tedder will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Fletcher was born May 18, 1951, in Cook County to Charles Fletcher and Lou Annie George Fletcher, both of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Fletcher worked as a heavy machine operator at the Cook County Landfill. He enjoyed Western movies, horses, coon hunting, deer hunting, turkey hunting, and aggravating his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed drag racing and breaking horses. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Maebell Nolen Fletcher of West Berrien Community; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Tanara Soots of Key West, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Jimmie Walls of West Berrien Community; his grandchildren, Cecil Marie Nichols of Fitzgerald, John (J.D.) Van Voorhis of Nashville, Samantha Van Voorhis of Texas, Dalton and Savannah Soots of Key West, Fla.; 6 great-granddaughters, Carisea, Harley, and Pearlie Van Voorhis, Sarah Van Voorhis, Aryannah McDonald, and Gracie Van Voorhis; one great-grandson, Jason McDonald; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Earl Mullis of Enigma, Ruby Nell Fletcher of Enigma, Virginia and Phillip Clarke of Nashville, and Evelyn and Skip Dimaggio of Jacksonville, Fla., his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Katherine Fletcher of Tenn., Wayne and Debbie Fletcher of Enigma, Gerald and Tammy Fletcher of Eldorado, and Warren Fletcher of West Berrien Community; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
