Brenda Joyce Lovett



JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brenda Joyce Lovett, 65, of Jacksonville, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Marion Green will officiate with burial to follow at Salem Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the home of Bootsie Dowdy, 611 Lovey Swails Road, Enigma, Ga. 31749.

Major Buddy Dowdy, Douglas Dowdy, Derek Dowdy, Alex Carter, Kelly Ward and Eric Hughes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Hughes, Larry Rice, Dewey Cooper, Wendell Rich, Tanner Layton and Ricky Layton.

Mrs. Lovett was born on April 6, 1944 in Tifton and was the daughter of J. S. Stone and Sarah Dorminy Stone, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Stone. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.

Mrs. Lovett is survived by her husband, Wendell Lovett of Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Wendell Wade Lovett of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Jo and Tony Handley of Callahan, Fla.; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Jimmy Stone of Raleigh, N.C., Ray Stone of Tifton, Ralph Stone of Tifton and Donnie and Glenda Stone of Tifton; one sister, Gail Stone of Brentwood, Md.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
