Annie Mae Franks
ENIGMA — Annie Mae Green Franks, 93, of Enigma, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the residence of her son in Enigma. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Billy Sumner and the Rev. Dewayne Franks officiating. Private burial, for family only, will follow at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Franks’ grandsons, Andy Goforth, Stacy Duckworth, Keith Duckworth, Randall Goforth, Alan Franks and Wyman Franks will serve as pallbearers.
Born Nov. 4, 1915, in Guin, Hamilton County, Ala., to the late Hazel Lewis Green and Rosie Franks Green, Mrs. Franks was also preceded in death by her husband, Kelly C. Franks, who died in January 2000; two brothers; one sister; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Franks was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to go to church when she was able and she loved her family and friends. Mrs. Franks loved to cook, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, fishing and dressing dolls. For many years, she and Mr. Franks were houseparents at the Georgia Sheriffs’ Boys’ Ranch in Hahira.
Mrs. Franks is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Leonard and Leah Franks, Raegan, Tenn., Calvin and Mary Franks of Astor, Fla., and Wayne and Sally Franks of Enigma; two daughters, Donna Paulk of Tifton and Carolyn Goforth of Sumner; one sister, Dessie Franks of Tifton; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
