Perelee Wynn

Ferrell

SYCAMORE — Perelee Wynn Ferrell, 90, of Sycamore, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Heritage Health Care in Ashburn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Bethel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time Monday at Perry Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Ferrell was born in Irwin County and had resided all of her life in Turner County. She was the daughter of the late Andy D. and Bertie Lee Beaty Wynn. She was a homemaker and loved tending her flower garden and listening to the birds that visited her garden. She was a member of Ashburn First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Ann Adair of Cumming. She is also survived by two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Don Wynn of Forsyth County.

Alvin Junior

Scoggins

CHULA — Alvin Junior Scoggins, 83, of Chula, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Chula, with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Tony Lawson, Ed Lawson, Joe Grasser, Steve Pearman, Lloyd Scoggins and William Oliver will serve as pallbearers. Hulen Jones, Foy Harrell, Jack Talley, Harold Sumner, Julian Williams, Cecil Davis, Curtis Pearman, Leroy Saylor, Mike Fletcher, Buck Aultman and John Harrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Scoggins was born on Feb. 2, 1925, in Hart County to Jim Scoggins and Leo Smith Scoggins, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Scoggins served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Mount  Zion Baptist Church in Chula, the American Legion and the Chula Chuster Club. He retired as a self-employed mechanic. He had worked part-time with the County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Department. He loved to work on go cart motors and race go carts with his sons and grandsons. He also liked to work in his yard.

Mr. Scoggins is survived by his wife, Helen Stripling Scoggins of Chula; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Iris Scoggins of Haines City, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Larry Jones of Lake Wales, Fla.; his grandchildren, Stacy and Debbie Scoggins and Al Scoggins; his great-grandchildren, Emily and Zack Scoggins, Rehonna Scoggins and Dustin Scoggins; four sisters, Leottis Camp, Guynell Cranford, Jimmy Metcalf and Effie Metcalf, all of Sycamore; one sister-in-law, Lillie Scoggins of Sycamore; and a special friend, Linda McCarty.
