  • DUI cases among incidents reported to law enforcement

    Local law enforcement responded to several recent incidents, including DUI arrests.
    According to an incident report filed at the Tifton Police Department, officer Bryan Rhodes reported Saturday morning that he responded to Magnolia Drive and Seventh Street due to a call about a motorist passed out in his vehicle in the left turning lane of Magnolia Drive. The vehicle was at the intersection with Seventh Street and was facing north.

  • City looks at health care options for employees, chooses to stay put

    The Tifton City Council heard from Skip Hill with Partners Benefit Group at last week’s workshop concerning changes in health care.
    City Manager Larry Riner said Hill has been handling their health care benefits for quite some time now. He said he finds the best “bang for their buck.” Hill discussed changes in health care due to Health Care Reform and the Affordable Care Act.

    Local law enforcement responded to a burglary of copper wire and several shootings over the weekend.
    According to an incident report filed at the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, a man reported Saturday that he had a suspect on camera who had been stealing copper wire valued at $500 from a location in the 100 block of Access Road in Chula. The report states the offender, 22-year-old Andrew David Mobley of Tifton, was located and arrested for burglary in the second degree. The complainant had also reported earlier on Thursday and March 16 that several items and wire had been taken from the property.
