FLASH: Tift County School Closing Friday

The Tift County School System announced Thursday on its Web site school will be closed today, due to the possibility of severe weather and because of concerns for the safety of students traveling to and from school. There will be an administrator at each school to make sure students are taken care of, in case parents are not aware of the school closing.

St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Tifton, will host a recycling and composting workshop this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon, to help area churches improve their environmental stewardship. Registration is free.

    Tuesday's primary runoff election proved to be a close one for the local Tift County Board of Education District 4 race between Keith Barr and Richard Golden. Barr took the overall win with 511 votes (53.23 percent). Golden garnered 449 votes (46.77 percent).
