5 in custody in connection with Omega shooting

TIFTON —

In a press release Thursday afternoon, Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough released the names of those in custody in connection with the shooting in Omega Wednesday.

Tyler Antwan Johnson, 19, of Omega, died Wednesday from a gunshot wound to the head. Johnson was shot at a residence in Omega, located at 1566 Georgia Avenue. A citizen provided a description of a vehicle seen in that area, and Georgia Department of Natural Resources Ranger Greg Wade spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling on Ty Ty Omega Road that afternoon.

Wade called for assistance, the release stated, and deputies responded to his location and were able to stop the vehicle.

Trevon Azell Rushton, 21, Kelly Denise Warren, 31, Edwin A. Williams, 24, and Carrington Diore Hollis, 21, all of Thomasville, were taken into custody. They have each been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Rondarian Tyron Jones, 23, of Omega, was also arrested later on Wednesday afternoon, and faces the same charges.

A press conference is scheduled for Friday morning at the Tift County Sheriff's Office.
