An Ashburn man wanted for the late September murder of a Ty Ty man whose body was found off a rural road in Turner County remains at large and authorities searching for him are offering a reward and asking for help from the public.
“We need to try to keep his picture out there,” Steve Wood, chief deputy of the Turner County Sheriff’s Office, said Wednesday.
The body of Tommy Wayne Giles, 58, of Ty Ty was found Sept. 27 by a landowner off Bobby Reaves Road in Turner County. He died of gunshot wounds to the head. A murder warrant was issued soon after for Nathan Emmanuel Holley, 34, of Ashburn. Giles and Holley both worked at C & S Builders in Ty Ty. They weren’t working together Sept. 27 but investigators believe they were together at some point during that day.
Holley’s red 2000 GMC Sierra four-by-four truck was found the night of Oct. 6 in Cordele. Authorities combed the area on foot and by helicopter but turned up no additional evidence to indicate Holley’s whereabouts.
Holley is described as being 5’11” tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has reddish-brown hair and a tattoo of a sword and a rose on his upper right arm. He is described as an avid hunter.
Wood said Wednesday that he didn’t believe Holley had tried to contact family members or friends.
“We haven’t heard that he has tried to communicate with anyone,” Wood said. “We talk and follow up and no one has heard from him.”
Someone did report a couple of weeks ago that they had seen a man fitting Holley’s description in the Cordele area, but Wood said the information was of little use because the person didn’t report it until several days after the siting.
“We need people to call immediately with information,” Wood said. “Just call 911 from wherever you are and local law enforcement will follow up on it.
“Crisp County is familiar with the case and they are ready to act on tips.”
Wood said he hopes that America’s Most Wanted will run a segment on the case soon, but those plans have not been finalized.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call the Turner County Sheriff’s Office at 229-567-2401. Callers can remain anonymous. Anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Giles’ murder could qualify for a $500 reward.
