John Berry to present Christmas concert, Dec. 2
Special to The Gazete
TIFTON — “Return to Bethlehem,” the John Berry Christmas Show, will be presented in Tifton at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Tift County Performing Arts Center at Tift County High School, as the first event in Tifton’s Hometown Holidays Celebration. Reserved seat tickets are $24, and are available now at LongHorn Steak House on Highway 82, Lion Chasers Christian Bookstore, 118 E. Second St., and WTIF Radio/Harvest Studios on Victory Drive at Second St.
A Georgia native, Berry has delighted audiences in Tifton with his Christmas Show over the past several years. This year’s concert is special because a portion of the proceeds will go to the Tift County High School Band. Berry’s daughter, TaylorMarie Berry, is the colorguard coordinator for the award-winning Blue Devil Brigade, and she graciously asked her father to present a benefit show for the band.
The Georgia tenor has been recognized by the Grammy Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association as a nominee in the Best Male Vocalist category and has scored hits such as "Your Love Amazes Me," "Kiss Me in the Car," and "Standing on the Edge of Goodbye." Songs & Stories is a live, acoustic set released independently and includes a mix of Berry favorites and the singer's choice cuts from previous albums.
Berry began his musical journey by making a name for himself in the Georgia club scene. From 1979-1991, Berry recorded six independent albums before signing with Capitol Records in 1992. With his first major self-titled album on the shelves, Berry took to the road on a major concert tour opening for the likes of Reba McEntire, Aaron Tippin, and the Mavericks.
