TIFTON

A Tifton man was shot through the calf of his leg Sunday afternoon when he and another man walked out the front door of a residence.

According to the incident report filed by an officer with the Tifton Police Dept., Demetrius Lester, 17, of 310 Old Omega Road, and Demarkus Singleton, 22, of 1938 W. Highway 82, Ty Ty, told the officer that they were walking out of the front door of a residence at 1110 S. College Circle at approximately 11:45 a.m. Sunday when someone fired a gun.

The bullet went through Lester’s pants leg and hit Singleton, traveling through and out the calf of his right leg. Singleton was transported for treatment at Tift Regional Medical Center.

The officer wrote that the men didn’t know where the shot(s) came from or who shot the gun.

Lt. Porter Jackson said the department’s investigation into the incident is continuing. So far, investigators have not been able to determine what type of gun was used in the incident or any motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the Tifton Police Department at 382-3132.
