Organizers of the 11 a.m. Wednesday Veterans Day ceremony at Tifton’s Veterans Park downtown are urging everyone to attend the ceremony to show support for military veterans and those currently actively serving in the military.

The Tift County High School Blue Devil Brigade will begin performing at 10:30 a.m. and present patriotic selections such as “America,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “God Bless the USA” and “America the Beautiful.” Members of the Symphonic Band Brass Ensemble will perform “My Country ‘tis of Thee” and “Amazing Grace.” A highlight of the Brigade’s performance will be a rendition of all the U.S. military theme songs to recognize each branch of the service.

Brigade alumna Megan Pyles will play “Taps.” The ninth-grade concert band and chorus will perform earlier Wednesday morning at the N.E. Campus TCHS Veterans Day program.

Rickey L. Savage, director of bands at TCHS, encourages all citizens of the Tifton/Tift County community to attend the event to show support and appreciation to all veterans, especially to those that have given the ultimate sacrifice, and to all of those who still serve our country in protecting our freedom.

Tyron Spearman will serve as master of ceremonies; Tifton Mayor Jamie Cater will give the welcome; the Tifton Police Honor Guard will present the Colors; Doug Jones will sing the National Anthem; Tom Mitchell will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; and the Rev. Craig Nalls will provide the invocation. Mitchell will present the VFW scholarship; George Lindstedt will present the Jack Wright plaque; and Jim Willkomm will present the U.S. Marine plaque.
