Detectives are continuing their investigation of the death of a Sumner man found stabbed to death at his residence Monday.
Joseph Milton “Joey” Sumner III, 52, had lived in Worth County all of his life, according to his obituary. He was employed at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Sumner’s funeral was held Friday at Banks Funeral Chapel.
He lived in a mobile home on Joe Sumner Road and his mother found him dead of stab wounds Monday. According to Worth County Sheriff Freddie Tompkins, investigators issued a lookout for Lisa Marie Wade, 27, Sumner’s girlfriend, and she was arrested at her mother’s house in Berrien County.
“She’s in the Berrien County Jail on unrelated charges,” Tompkins said Friday. “We are still investigating it.”
Tompkins said no arrest have been made in the case.
According to a spokesman at the Berrien County Jail, Wade is charged with possession of cocaine.
Anyone with information about Sumner’s death is urged to call the Worth County Sheriff’s Office at 229-776-8211 or the GBI at 229-777-2080.
