Fishing Rodeo set for Saturday

Special to The Gazette

TIFTON — The Kids & Senior Citizens Fishing Rodeo will be held from 7:30 a.m. until noon Saturday at Paradise Public Fishing Area in Enigma.

The “Get Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs!” event is sponsored by the Tifton Police Department, the Tifton Citizen Police Academy Alumni, the ABAC Forestry & Wildlife Club and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

“This will give our kids and senior citizens a chance to interact with each other and it will give grandparents and grandchildren something to do outside,” said Lt. Steve Hyman of the TPD.

Cup Lake, Saucer Lake and Bowl Lake will be open for kids and senior citizens only during the event. The lakes are stocked with catfish, bream and bass.

No license or permits are required for kids under 15 and senior citizens 65 years old and older. Participants 55-64 years old will be required to purchase a one-day fishing pass for $3.50. The one-day fishing pass can be purchased at outlets that sell fishing licenses.

For more information, contact Hyman at 391-3919.
