Six forced entry residential burglaries were reported to local law enforcement between Monday and Tuesday, according to incident reports filed by the Tifton Police Department and the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.
• Silvia Guzman reported to the TPD that around midnight on Tuesday an unknown person entered her residence on East 14th Street. Guzman told Sgt. Donnie Cooper that she and her son were asleep when she heard a loud noise in the living room. She said she got up and ran into the room to see what had made the noise and saw a white male in the living room. It appeared he had entered the residence by kicking in the door. Guzman screamed at the intruder and he ran back out the door. Cooper’s report stated that the intruder joined up with his partner, a look-out, who was waiting for him. Both men then ran from the yard. They were described as both being young — in their 20s — and both were skinny with shoulder length dark hair. They were wearing Khaki pants and white T-shirts. Guzman did not report anything taken, only damage to the front door frame.
• Kimberly Hart of the 1400 block of Sutton Circle reported to the TCSO that sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday someone entered her home and took valuables. Hart reported that when she got home from work she noticed someone had forced her back door. She said the intruder took personal items valued at $580.
• Linda Willis Hampton’s residence on Highway 319 South was burglarized some time between 10:20 a.m. and 11:29 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a TCSO report. Hampton said that someone entered her residence and took $425 worth of office equipment and $7,800 worth of jewelry.
• Lorenzo Dawson reported a forced entry burglary at his residence on North second Avenue between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday. Dawson reported to the TCSO that someone had kicked in his front door and had taken two firearms valued at $275, a watch valued at $200 and a DVD player valued at $50.
• Ronnie Harris of the 500 block of Sugar Street reported to the TCSO that someone forced their way into his home some time between 7:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Monday and took jewelry valued at $30.
• Marquise White told the TCSO that someone had entered his residence in the 300 block of East Golden Road between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesday and took items valued at $4,030. White reported the intruder had forced his way in through the back door.
In addition to the forced entry residential burglaries, two incidences of theft by taking were reported:
• Clay Griffin reported to the TCSO that someone took his 6X10 utility trailer parked at his residence on Stone Road some time between 1:30 p.m. on Monday and noon on Tuesday.
• Melissa Copeland reported to the TCSO that someone entered her residence on Shiloh Drive and took several items of jewelry valued at $735.
