Man shot; burglaries abound across Tifton

TIFTON

A man reported Sunday that he was shot while lying in the cemetery across from J.T. Reddick Elementary School.

Maurice Randall, 30, said that he was shot on the right side of his right knee and that he didn’t know why and couldn’t give any more information.

Investigators with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation into the case.

According to a spokesman at Tift Regional Medical Center, Randall was released from the hospital Tuesday.

In other reports to the Tift County Sheriff’s Office and the Tifton Police Dept.:

• A woman who lives in the 500 block of West 27th Street reported Monday that someone stole her gray/tan 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee valued at $10,000 from her residence as well as $44 in cash and firearms valued at $200. The vehicle was recovered early Tuesday in the area of Hill Avenue and Golden Road and 17-year-old Ellis Markiest Pitts, 2912 S. Park Ave., was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

• A man who lives on Palmetta Road reported Monday that someone broke into his residence and stole $700 worth of jewelry and $215 worth of electronic equipment.

• An employee of Matech, 214 Expressway Lane, reported Monday that the business was burglarized and $950 worth of property was stolen.

• A man who lives in the 300 block of U.S. Highway 125 S. reported Friday that someone stole a trailer valued at $500 and a riding lawnmower valued at $2,500 from his property.

• A woman who lives on 23rd Street reported Tuesday that someone forced their way into her home and stole items valued at $200.

• A man who lives in the 100 block of Cherry Street reported Saturday that someone stole four air conditioning units valued at $1,000 from his residence.

• A man who lives in the 800 block of Salem Church Road reported that someone entered his residence and stole items valued at $2,000.

• A woman who lives in the 2700 block of Cascade Drive reported Tuesday that she found the latches on her front door had been knocked off but she didn’t find that anything was missing from her residence.

• A man who lives on Evie Circle reported Tuesday that someone entered his residence and stole a shoe box full of an estimated $700 in quarters.

• A man who lives in the 3100 block of Sixth Avenue reported Tuesday that someone broke into the shed at his residence and stole $550 worth of property.
