Libraries' summer programs to continue through July

This week marks the end of the month-long Summer Reading performance series for the Coastal Plain Regional Library system, but the fun continues for the over 3,000 patrons who attended events at libraries throughout the region.

Although the performances may be over for this year, the Summer Reading program will continue until July 31, and children can keep reading for their goals and winning prizes. People of all ages can enjoy free family fun at the Coastal Plain Regional Libraries in Berrien, Cook, Irwin, Tift, and Turner counties.

The Summer Reading Program at the Tifton-Tift County Public Library continues in July with Family Story Hour scheduled Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. and Bilingual Story Hour on July 7 and July 14 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Tuesday night (7-8:30 p.m.) Needle Arts Series will continue through the month of July as well. Bring your own project in to work on with two experienced needleworkers on hand to help you.

TTCPL also has programming for teens (ages 12 and up) on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through the month of July.

The Tifton-Tift County Public Library will host a Be Creative Summer Reading Program Wrap-up Party for all summer reader participants at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 at the TTCPL location at 163 S. Virginia Ave. (Old Wal-Mart building). All summer readers should bring their reading logs to the wrap-up party to be eligible for free book giveaways and a reading medal. The teen Express Yourself wrap-up party will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30. The drawing for the free MP3 players that teen readers have entered will be held at that time.
