A LaGrange man who was stabbed near a local bar early Thursday morning is in good condition and detectives are continuing their investigation into the case.
According to a report filed by an officer with the Tifton Police Department, several officers were dispatched to 116 Poplar St., Lil’s Bar, at 1:37 a.m. Thursday. The officers were advised there were several men fighting in the parking lot and that the men had knives and weapons.
When the first officer arrived, the offenders were no longer on the scene. One officer stayed there until the bar closed, the report stated.
According to the report, one of the officers received a call that a man who had been stabbed at or near the bar earlier was being treated at Tift Regional Medical Center. The officer visited with the victim at the hospital and discovered that he had a stab wound to the middle of the abdomen that was one to two inches deep. A hospital spokesman said Thursday afternoon that the man was in good condition.
Detective Lee Dunston of the TPD is the lead investigator in the case. He said Thursday that he is continuing to follow up on leads in the case.
