Willis: No guarantee he’ll be hired by TC schools

By Angie Thompson/senior reporter

“It allows me to check certifications for ethics violations, and it allows to me screen them,” Dobard said. “Once I screen the applicants, I forward that information to the principals, who call them in for interviews and then a background check is conducted.”

Dobard said all of the employment positions available are listed on the site at www.teachgeorgia.org.

“I told Mr. Atwater that I was not going to apply for any position until I resigned,” Willis said. “I’ll serve where they want me to serve. All of the jobs I’ve applied for are entry-level.”

Atwater said Thursday that he nor the members of the BOE made verbal or written claims to Willis that he would be automatically chosen for a teaching or coaching position in the school system if he tendered his resignation.

“There was no guarantee made to Erick Willis as far as a job in the school system,” Atwater said.
