One of the suspects charged with the Wednesday murder of 20-year-old Barry Bullard was out on bond on charges that he hid a gun used in the April 2007 home invasion murder of an elderly Tifton woman. Detectives are continuing the Bullard murder investigation and are encouraging those with information to come forward.

Bullard was shot and killed Wednesday night in front of a duplex apartment in a complex off East 13th Street. Charged with his murder are Jeremy A. “Miami” Reynolds Jr., 30, 310 Old Omega Road, Lot H-3, Allen D. Williams, 23, 925 Collins St., and Neddrick M. Green, 23, 2308 S. College Ave. The three men face felony murder charges.

In April 2007, 66-year-old Lorrine Roberts Hall was shot multiple times and killed in an apparent robbery inside her home on Collins Street. The offenders kicked in the door of the residence.

Layton Kiev Lester, 15, was charged with felony murder and armed robbery and will be tried as an adult. Rodney L. King, 17, was charged with theft by receiving stolen property after officials said they found a large sum of money believed to have been taken from Hall’s home during the robbery. Shurrod Kareen Rich, 18, was charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Several days later, Neddrick Marcusique Green, 22 years old at the time, was also charged with murder in the case. Green’s murder charges in the Hall case were dropped for lack of evidence but he was charged and indicted by a grand jury in May 2007 on charges of hindering the apprehension of a criminal. The indictment reads that Green “on April 29, 2007, concealed a .45 caliber High Point semi-automatic pistol, evidence of a crime, with the intention to hinder the apprehension of Shurrod K. Rich and Layton Lester, persons he had reasonable grounds to believe had committed a felony ...”

Green pleaded not guilty to the charge in May 2007 and, according to records in the office of clerk of Tift Superior Court, his bond was set at $10,000 in October and then reduced to $5,000 in December.

According to Kevin Hutto, an assistant district attorney, a murder warrant was taken on Green in the initial stages of the investigation into Hall’s murder but authorities weren’t able to gather enough evidence to make the charge stick and the murder warrant was dismissed.

Green, Reynolds and Williams are still being held in the Tift County Jail and charged with Bullard’s murder. Det. Bryan Cavenaugh of the Tifton Police Dept. said he and other investigators have interviews numerous people in connection with the case and are encouraging others who might have any information to come forward.

Cavenaugh said Monday that Bullard had come to the TPD in early July and made a statement at that time that he and the offenders had a confrontation over an incident involving three young males being harassed. Cavenaugh said Bullard asked the offenders about the boys being harassed and that the offenders said they would get Bullard also.

Cavenaugh said the verbal arguments continued and escalated and that, on July 7, someone shot into Bullard’s trailer. Cavenaugh and Det. Lee Dunston processed that crime scene.

“We took a verbal statement from Bullard at the scene and by the time we got to the PD to take a written statement, he (Bullard) changed his story about who the offenders were,” Cavenaugh said.

Bullard’s murder is a continuing investigation, Cavenaugh said, explaining why he would not yet release the mug shots of those arrested for Bullard’s murder.

“We still have line ups to conduct here and in another county,” Cavenaugh said. “We have taken several statements and we are still needing anyone who saw anything, no matter how trivial they believe it to be, to give us a call.”
