McCormick International USA donates tractors to Ag Expo, UGA research farms

McCormick International USA recently took the opportunity to help two important agricultural institutions in South Georgia: The Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition Research Farm and the University of Georgia’s Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton.

The Sunbelt Ag Expo, held annually in Moultrie, is known as “North America’s Premier Farm Show.” The working UGA research farm consists of 600 acres of cotton, peanuts and other crops that are grown in the southeastern region.

Patrick Tractor of Tifton and McCormick International presented the two research farms with a McCormick model CX105 ExtraShift tractor. The CX105 tractor comes with 83 PTO horsepower and is equipped with a 24 x 24 powershift transmission to handle day-to-day activities at the research farms. Daily activities can include preparation and planting, to maintaining and harvesting the fields.

In February, the Sunbelt Ag Expo tractor was presented to Michael Williams, farm manager of Sunbelt Research Farm, by Bob Patrick, owner of Patrick Tractor; Bucky Ferguson, general manager of Patrick Tractor, and Darrell Truett, service manager of Patrick Tractor and by McCormick International USA Territory Manager Kyle Watts.

Patrick Tractor delivered the University of Georgia research farm tractor at the end of April to Don Day, Tifton Variety Testing program director.

Rodney Miller, CEO of McCormick International USA, has agreed to provide the two institutions with a new tractor every year. “It’s important to support our local institutions, and promote the great work that is being done at the Sunbelt Ag Expo and the University of Georgia research farms,” says Miller. There are local farmers that visit the research farms in order to view the new products and check out all the action taking place at the research farms.

McCormick offers more than 45 models ranging from 23 to 213 hp, and Landini manufactures more than 50 models ranging from 40 to 180 hp. More information on McCormick and Landini products and services can be found on the company Web sites at www.mccormickusa.com.
