G.O. Bailey School put on lockdown

TIFTON —

A Code Red was issued at approximately 10:15 a.m. today had G.O. Bailey Primary School and the school locked down for approximately 45 minutes. At least 20 parents who had heard about the incident were standing at the school's entrance when a school administrator told them that they could check their children out of school if they wished, but the Code Red had been lifted and that there was never a threat to the school. Superintendent Patrick Atwater told The Tifton Gazette at approximately 11 a.m. that there was never a threat to anyone and there was no incident at the school. Atwater said that gun fire had been reported in the area of the school. Officers with the Tifton Police Dept. were on the scene. More information will be made available as it develops.
